Senior Citizen Application and Registration Process

Programs with a separate application, interview process or waitlist do not qualify for the senior rate. Classes that are full also do not qualify for this rate.

Minnesota residents, age 62 or older, may register and be eligible to attend Saint Paul College at a reduced rate. To receive the senior citizen rate, the student must register for the course after the first class session has taken place, provided space is available.

  1. Apply to Saint Paul College - You can do that here.
    • Select "undeclared" as your program, if you are interested in taking courses and not completing a program
  2. Receive Reading, English, and Math Placements or meet Course Prerequisites:

Look at the Course Schedule to determine if the course(s) you want require any previous class or placement prerequisites.

If the course requires placements, we may be able to waive the placement assessment base of the list below. If these apply to you, please fill out the Assessment Waiver form.

    • Unofficial transcripts from a college or university with a grade of C- or higher
    • ACCUPLACER scores (Math within the last 2 years and Reading/Writing within the last 5 years)

    * If you do not have any or all of these placements, please email admissions@audibleband.com to get set up or learn about the required assessment(s).

If the course requires a prerequisite class that you may have taken at a different college, you will need to fill out a Course Registration Permission Request form.

  3. Requesting the Senior Rate: Students wishing to enroll in course(s) and receive the senior citizen rate will need to provide proof of age and Minnesota residency. This may be done anytime leading up to the day of registration.

Email registration@audibleband.com and attach a photocopy of your MN Driver’s License or a MN State issued ID with the subject line "Requesting Senior Citizen Rate." Include your Star ID in the email if you know it.

You may also visit the Admissions & Financial Aid Office (Room 1300) at Saint Paul College to make the request and show your ID.

This step must be done for each semester you wish to enroll in course(s) to ensure the senior rate is applied to the appropriate semester.

  4. Register for Course(s): Students wanting the senior rate may register for the desired course after the first class session has taken place. For instance, if a course starts on January 9th, the earliest you will be able to register is January 10th.

If you register for a course during the second week of classes, you will need to get approval from the course instructor.

If you register for a course during the third week of classes, you will need to get approval from the course instructor and the Dean.

Register through e-services or visit the Admissions office for assistance.

    NEED CLASS GUARANTEE?

Senior citizens wishing to guarantee their enrollment in a course may register earlier, but would be required to pay full tuition and fees.

  5. Set up Tuition Payment:Click here for more information on payment options.

Minnesota resident senior citizens are not charged tuition when auditing a credit course or taking a noncredit course. The request to audit a course must be made at the time of course registration. Complete the Request for Audit Status Form and turn it in to the One Stop office or email it to registration@audibleband.com.

Regular and special fees, books and materials are the responsibility of the student.
